twenty-five books

I'm setting a new goal (see #9 and #10 on my post 10 ways to procrastinate):
Read twenty-five books while I'm twenty-five.

At first I thought it was a small number considering my love for reading. But I'm also working on reading the entire Bible cover to cover. And I'm a full time student, so I think 25 is pushing my time, but not so crazy that it is completely out of reach. You know what I mean?

I turn twenty-five in one week, so I need to compile a list of books. That's where my blog reader's come in. I need recommendations. Give me whatever you have. Series, fiction, non-fiction, poems, how-to... I want it all!

  1. The Barbarian Way - Erwin McManus
    Interrupted - Jen Hatmaker
The Discipline of Grace - Jerry Bridges
The Next Generation Leader - Andy Stanley
    Visioneering - Andy Stanley
    Co. Aytch - Sam Watkins
    The Awakening - Kate Chopin

That's what I can think of off the top of my head...

  2. If you like fiction I can send you my "recently read" list from Amazon... What are some books you've liked recently? That'll help me tweak the list to you!

  3. Okay... this isn't a book, but...
    Kate's Stopping Spree. www.stoppingspree.com
This is a blog about a young, local, HS English teacher with a spending problem. And how she decided to stop this problem by freezing ALL unnecessary spending for a year! This is 12 months worth of fairly regular blogging. You get to know her like you would any character from a book and before you know it you are rooting her on in her efforts. Once the 12 months is up you go through that same book-ended mourning period.
I think you will be interested in this because paying off debt and getting your finances in order is something that you are currently focusing on. She also blogs about craft projects and gardening and hanging out with friends and family (all of which she manages to do for free!)
So will you find this at Barnes and Noble? No. But it is written by a HS English teacher and is a very good, informative, life changing read.
